PORT LOUIS, Mauritius – June 5, 2026 – The Indian Ocean island nation of Mauritius is hosting the Africa Aquatics and Zone 4 Open Water Swimming Championships from June 6–7, 2026, welcoming more than 100 of the continent’s top open water swimmers.

A total of 14 countries are represented at the championships, with 102 swimmers (44 women and 58 men) competing across individual and relay events. The athlete roster includes emerging junior talents and senior swimmers vying for continental glory in the warm, calm waters off Coral Azur in Mont Choisy Beach.

The two-day competition features:

  • 5 km individual events for each age category (Saturday, June 6)
  • 4×1000 m mixed relay (Saturday, June 6)
  • 3 km sprint knockout for all categories combined (Sunday, June 7)

Age categories include C1 (14–15 years), C2 (16–18 years), and Seniors (19 years and older). Countries may enter up to two athletes per category in individual events and one relay team per nation.

Water quality has been confirmed via two biological tests, with a water temperature of 25°C and no marine current, ensuring optimal racing conditions.
